Two years ago, Concerned Homeowners of Shadow Hills (CHOSH) endorsed homeowner Carey Thompson as a Board candidate for our Sun City Shadow Hills (SCSH) $25 million Corporate Board of Directors. WOW, are we ever glad
Carey had a strong financial background, having been the budget director of an $800 million agency for the State of Oregon. As our SCSH HOA Board Treasurer since March, 2016, Carey Thompson has accomplished everything she promised she would do for our community — and more!
As Treasurer/CFO and Board liaison to our Finance Advisory Committee, Carey Thompson achieved the following on behalf of ALL homeowners:
- Developed a new, more comprehensive Charter for the SCSH Finance Advisory Committee (FAC).
- Recruited members for the Finance Advisory Committee who were the most qualified in the community.
- Developed a more Cost Effective Management Reporting system.
- With the support of the FAC, recommended that the community hire an on-site controller.
- Together with the FAC, lead the implementation of new internal controls to “plug the holes” that allowed for a financial discrepancy.
There are many ways that Carey Thompson made a positive difference for our community; these are just some of the highlights. Carey has shown all of us what excellent qualifications and a positive, teamwork oriented demeanor can do for an HOA Board and therefore the entire community.
All of the improvements in our accounting, contract development, internal controls, Reserve analyses and financial reporting are a direct result of Carey Thompson being elected to our Board. We want you to know that, we want everyone to know that. Sometimes we forget that volunteer Directors like Carey are willing to devote their expertise 30 hours a week on our behalf to ensure our community is well managed.
How should we as a community celebrate Carey Thompson’s legacy? Simple – vote for the candidates who will follow in Carey’s footsteps; candidates who have the qualifications that will honor the excellence and the commitment that Carey has given to all of us?
Vote for the best qualified 2018 SCSH HOA candidates:
And Carey Thompson – Once again, we are sorry to see you retire but given all the thousands of hours you have devoted to the betterment of our community in the past two years, we understand.
Thank you again for everything you have accomplished
THANK YOU… for everything! You’re the best!
